Office 2016 Security Update 15.17.0

There are lot of fixes have been released in this security update of Office 2016. In older version on which i experienced lot of issues was 15.13.1, it had many issues after upgrade my system to El Capitan 10.11.2 from 10.11. So it was minor update but it messed up office version.

Issues which i experienced are mentioned below.

1. SSO error while activating Office 2016.
2. All MS apps where getting crashed while launching them.


So Microsoft has released and update Office 2016 15.17.0 and 15.17.1 which has fixed mainly all issues.

Improvements and fixes

This update provides the following fixes and improvements:

Outlook

• Software updates. 

Word

• Scholarly style. Added new support for custom citation styles. 
• View OpenDocument Text files. Word can open OpenDocument Text (.odt) files. 
• Insert screen shot. Take a simple screen capture of any open application, or clip a part of the screen, and insert the image in Word. 
• Software updates. 

Excel

• View OpenDocument Spreadsheet files. Excel can open OpenDocument Spreadsheet (.ods) files. 
• Insert screen shot. Take a simple screen capture of any open application, or clip a part of the screen, and insert the image in Excel. 
• Software updates. 

PowerPoint

• View OpenDocument Presentation files. PowerPoint can open OpenDocument Presentation (.odp) files. 
• Insert screen shot. Take a simple screen capture of any open application, or clip a part of the screen, and insert the image in PowerPoint. 
• Software updates.

So to update it in our existing infrastructure.

First : Update Microsoft Auto Updater to get the latest information about Updates.

Launch Terminal and use below command from screenshot to open the location where AutoUpdate application is installed. It could some other version instead of MAU2.0 but it would be start by MAU.

open /Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/

Run "Microsoft AutoUpdate" application to get the latest update of AutoUpdate.

After get it updated, run it again to get the latest MS Office 2016 update as you can see in the screenshot below.

After update, relaunch them and they would work fine.
